Beauty Bias: Is Your Salon ACTUALLY Inclusive?

You are too fat to be seen here….

As an industry (and the world), we’ve made efforts to be more inclusive. Learning how to work with different hair textures and skin tones, understanding and respecting other cultures… and although we still have a way to go,  there’s one area of inclusion that we’ve left behind… weight.

How would you feel if one of your therapists, said this to a client? What sort of culture do you have in your Salon where your team thinks it’s okay to say that to someone? Their comments might not be that obvious, by prejudiced comments around weight get made every single day, in just about every Salon.

Inclusion and diversity workshops and training sessions aren’t really the norm. But it’s time we start having those conversations with our team so that every client feels welcomed.

I wanted to share with you the importance of inclusion and diversity in your Salon and how you can have those important conversations with your team.

In today’s episode, I’m chatting to Sky McLaughlin from Larger Luxury to talk about the Beauty Bias: Is Your Salon ACTUALLY Inclusive?

Where Do I Find a Manager?

I need a new Manager! Where do I find one? Should I promote internally or post an ad… what do I do?!

Hiring a new manager can feel stressful… you have a couple of rockstars in your team who want to be a Manager but they aren’t ready or the right fit, so then you have to create and post a job ad which can feel like a whole daunting task in itself. And you still haven’t even decided what exactly your new Manager would do…

How to Beat the 2 Year Team Exit

Creating the $100k Career Roadmap was one of the best things I ever did as a Salon Owner…

When you give your team a path to success, they are motivated to WIN! You’ll be ahead of the dreaded “Can I get a pay rise?” conversations because both you and your team have transparency to know what needs to happen before the conversation can even begin!
