It’s almost 2022, and we can all admit: times have changed. 

Anyone who’s been in this industry for more than a couple of years will have seen the change happening. 

The shift is actually pretty clear… and it’s all about our employees.


With more and more Gen Y and Z coming into Salon and Spa businesses, there’s been a change in the expectations that these employees have. People now greatly value what I call the ‘lifestyle factor’. 

They aren’t willing to work themselves to the bone, and they place a lot of importance on their work/life balance. 


For many Salon and Spa Owners, this has been frustrating. But I think what we need to realise is that the shift is happening (or has happened) whether we like it or not. 

So we need to get with the times and adjust, so that our businesses have the chance to still flourish.
