An Honest Chat: What it’s Really Like to Grow Your Business
Let’s face it, whether you own 1, 2 or 10 Salons- balancing your time and attention between all your different roles can be TOUGH. There are staff members to manage, on floor operations to oversee, and all the behind the scenes jobs like accounts, paperwork, marketing, sales management and other business activities that non-business owners don’t even think about… the list just goes on and on!
It can feel never-ending. You want to grow and expand your business, but there’s just so much to do!
In this episode of the Podcast, I’m chatting with Chelle Neff, who has grown her Salon Urban Betty in Austin, Texas, from being a 6 chair, booth rental salon, to now having 2 locations with 58 employees.
Chelle’s journey has not been easy. The opening of her second Salon started off as a 2 week job, but ended up taking almost a year. Chelle wants to pass what she’s learnt from this rollercoaster experience on to other Salon & Spa Owners like yourself.
In the episode, Chelle and I chat about the different dynamics between a smaller and larger Salon, and her top tips on how to make sure you’re ‘showing up’ in all the places.
Chelle dives into topics ranging from team politics to budgeting and the simple ways that she stays connected with each member of her large team. We discuss things like, how to know when it’s time to open another Salon, and how to remain present within your growing business.
In this episode, you’ll learn about:
- The rollercoaster of growing your business
- Handling team dynamics
- Differences between larger and smaller salons
- Budgeting realness
- How to balance time and effort
- When is the right time to open a second salon
