The Secret Ingredients to Running A Successful Salon
The vision of running your own Salon is exciting … to begin with.
You get to be the leader and do things your way instead of coming under someone else’s authority. Sounds like the dream, right?
But as you know, the reality of this has its challenges.
It’s all good and well having a vision but actually making it happen takes skill and steps to get there.
Being a salon owner requires a whole new level of expertise… from managing a team, to increasing profit, not to mention being a marketer, salesperson, cleaning lady, counsellor… OMG, it can be overwhelming.
Luckily, there are certain things you can do to not only claim this role with confidence, but to actually see your salon grow at the same time.
That’s why today I’m chatting with beauty salon owner, Sophie Anquetil, to seek her insights on what it takes from you to make your salon successful while juggling ‘all the things’.
Having owned her salon for 12 years and working closely with me through my Salon Mastery Coaching Program, she has learned many valuable tips along the way.
Protect Your Salon When She Says “I’m Leaving”
There are a few questions that I often get asked in my work with Salon Owners…
But without a doubt, one of the most common, and most stressed questions sounds like this:
“My team member is leaving… and they’re opening a Salon down the road! HELP!”
OMG… I get the pain, this is a seriously stressful situation.
And there are actually quite a few problems like this that crop up for Salon Owners… like, i’m sure as you read this you can picture a time when a similar stressful situation has happened to you.
I think the smartest way to deal with these types of fireballs is to future proof your business. Know your rights, legally, and make sure you’re protected where possible, by law, against any future problems.
That’s why, today, I wanted to bring onto this episode Cory Sterling. Through his business Conscious Counsel, Cory provides legal counsel for business owners in the health and wellness space.
Tune in today to learn how to protect your business, and yourself by utilising legal practices.
Life Hacks to Master Your Inner CEO
I’ve been there.
You’re juggling too many balls, wearing too many hats and the pot is starting to boil over…
You get to the point where there’s so much going on in life that when even the smallest thing goes wrong – you lose it!
I think every Salon Owner can relate to this. We are businesswomen… creative entrepreneurs, but we’re also mothers, daughters, wives, partners, hairdressers, marketers, cleaning ladies, taxi drivers, councillors… OMG the list just doesn’t end!
And when the stress of wearing all those different hats starts to creep into our everyday lives, it can become hard to shake that off at the end of the day!
I want to help you take that stress away. Make life just that little bit easier, in any way you can.
So I’ve rallied the troops – my friends, colleagues and other Salon Owners who I work with- to share with you their tips to living a stress free life. Their Life Hacks!
These are game changing… so let’s check them out.
Hangry Hairdressers at Christmas Time?!
The Salon Christmas Cray-Cray… are you feeling it yet?!
Even when I was off the floor, I still felt the stress and the strain of the crazy season. I’m sure you can relate…there are those two or three weeks in the lead up to Christmas where:
Every man and his dog wants to come and have their hair & beauty services done!
… and fair enough to them! But I remember going to my mum’s house for Christmas Day, and I would be having a wee nap on the couch. You know, I was so exhausted by the Christmas craziness. And it was completely anti-social.
It shouldn’t be like that, right?
So I learned the hard way to finally take some care of myself. And in fact, by the time I was not on the floor, I really made sure that I was there to support the girls. And make sure that it wasn’t quite as crazy for them.
So anyway, I wanted to share with you some things to do to make sure that your silly season is not super silly…
The Secret to Pricing Your Services Right
Your clients want to know, like and trust you.
And what that all comes down to is your area of expertise and what you can do for them… that’s what clients care about, after all!
And a huge part of that is your pricing. I think too often Salons are afraid to put their prices up, or feel nervous when it comes to establishing a pricing structure, because they’re scared of what their clients will say, or what people will think.
But when it comes down to it, if your expertise is clearly established and you’re known as the best at what you do… then it should be worth what you’re charging! And the right clients will recognise that.
In this episode, I am once again the guest not the host for once! I’m interviewed by the lovely Kristina from the Colour Kristina Talks Podcast, where I am chatting all about how to price your salon services.
When it comes to pricing, it’s all about believing in your own value and knowing how to charge for the skills of you & your team with a clear pricing strategy, that’ll lead to success.
